O Pioneers

It's nice when students read Cather's works. Her natural way with words and descriptions of the land and people bring a smile to my face. And the Hallmark movie isn't too bad either. It is not my favorite of her novels... It would be The Profesor's House. All too often, I feel like Outland, the main character. Outland's complications with his relationships reminds me of those in everyday, ordinary life. I guess that's why Cather's work has survived as long as it has.
