It is a feeling that no matter what the ideas or conduct of others, there is a unique rightness and beauty to life which can be shared in openness, in wind and sunlight, with a fellow human being who believes in the same basic principles...Sylvia Plath

Squishy objects
I just learned that as a teacher I work with squishy objects. The speaker at the Teacher Leadership Conference in Pierre informed us that our students need to be thought of as squishy objects. The students are never static individuals, they are malleable, emotional, and always changing. I imagine that there is some truth to that. In order to make any day successful, the lesson needs to be flexible and squishy in order to accomodate any changes in the personalities and lives of the students. Squishy, huh? I like that. I'm not sure it's the most flattering description, but it definitely a description.
