I subscribe to an application website called makeuseof.com. It essentially brings apps to me that are supposed to make my life easier, make my computer work better, and probably a mixture of both.
I use Dogpile almost exclusively. My husband uses Google almost exclusively. I like Pepsi. He likes Coke. You get the picture.
http://blindsearch.fejus.com/ allows me to do one search and pick the results that I feel are best without knowing which search engine did it until I hit the button and tell it which search engine did the best job. I will be crushed if Bing or Yahoo come up as I simply don't believe they are. I should tell you that since it is a Web2.0 app and it is in beta form it is having some issues right now, but trust me, it does do what it promises to do.
Search engines are a little like an old vehicle. If you know how to work it, it works fine. It's only when you try to make it do something that you know it can't or allow someone who doesn't know or appreciate the small nuances associated with the way to run the vehicle does it let you down.
